Funny bug
I encountered one pretty funny bug whilst using the settings application, especially taking the whole, sometimes very heated GNOME vs. KDE debate regarding buttons and the HIG into account:
Here’s how to reproduce it (not sure all steps are actually necessary):
- Launch System Settings
- Open up the “Appearance” settings
- Go to the “Style” sub-setting
- Open the “Effects” tab
- Select “Enable GUI effects”
- Choose the “Make Translucent” menu effect option
- In the “Menu translucency type” dropdown, choose “XRender Blend”
- Click “Apply”
Now an information dialog is displayed, warning these settings are invalid when using the Oxygen style (why were they displayed then, anyway?). Once pressing “OK” in this dialog, all buttons are displayed. Kinda funny
One last remark about the settings system: when changing some setting, then reverting it manually to the exact previous value, then leaving the settings dialog, displays a warning message your settings aren’t saved, although you actually didn’t change them. I don’t know whether this can be solved in the KDE configuration system…
