If you're interested take a look at http://www.opensync.org/wiki/6300 So it uses the gnokii plug-in and doesn't bother with syncml. I had been going to try to use syncml to get the sync-ing with the todo list etc, but from the comments I've seen this looks a little tricky ... On my E60 (Series 60) importing a new CA certificate is as easy as transferring a certificate file to the phone, opening it from the file manager and confirming that you want to import it to the store. I don't remember if it wants a PEM or DER certificate however. I've imported CAcert's certificate with success. I’m not sure about Series 40.

It's quite some time ago that I solved it, so I don't exactly remember what I did. What I do remember is, that I created a free SSL cert from http://cert.startcom.org/ and after converting their root certificate to some other format, I was able to import it into the Control panel / Security / Certificate manager of the phone... It then subsequently accepted the startcom-issued certificate on my server. I probably forget a few steps, and this probably doesn't help much with your phone anyway... About synchronisation: I also never got it working (although my phone claims to support SyncML), but I didn't try that hard... I basically gave up on it. Now the general frustration part: It seems as if all the Linux nerds either don't own a mobile, or they just don't have the need to synchronise it. That's the only explanation I can find for how big a mess all this mobile/Linux connection stuff still is. My next phone will be running Linux instead of some closed source crippled thing that calls itself OS. But I still have to use the current phone for some time, because it was just too damn expensive to dump it after 1.5 years already - although it's already falling apart.
